Enhanced Provider Recruitment Grant

Health Plan of San Joaquin / Mountain Valley Health Plan (“Health Plan”) went live with the Enhanced Provider Recruitment Grant Program in early 2025 in San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Alpine and El Dorado Counties.

This program will increase access to primary care physicians, hard-to-recruit specialists, other specialties, and non-physician mental/behavioral health services.

As part of our continued goal, we are focused on recruiting for hard-to-recruit specialists in the fields of endocrinology, neurology, psychiatry, rheumatology, hematology/oncology, plastic/reconstructive surgery along with other specialties where the Health Plan has identified access issues.

Some of the goals and qualifications of the grant are:

• Expand our provider network by recruiting brand-new providers
• Increase access to providers in specialized/hard-to-recruit services
• Providers will provide healthcare services at a professional office or clinic within the Health Plan service area
• Increase access to services to decrease avoidable emergency room visits and preventable admissions to acute care hospitals
• Facility/organization must be contracted with Health Plan and execute the Provider Recruitment Program Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). For more information, please contact: ProviderRecruitmentGrant@hpsj.com

After execution of an MOU, the application window to submit recruitment applications are open two times a year: January and July.

Grant funding is not eligible for the following specialties or provider types: urgent care centers, ambulatory surgical centers, and hospital-based specialties; specialists that practice primarily out of area or out of county; and specialties where the health plan has not identified access issues in the county.
