Subject: Justice-Involved (JI) Reentry Initiative: Rebranding and Screening Portal Updates
Business: Medi-Cal Managed Care

In accordance with the Department of Health Care Service (DHCS) publication, the Justice-Involved (JI) Initiative has been rebranded to the Justice-Involved (JI) Reentry Initiative. The DHCS provider manual sections, training materials, corresponding webpages and other resources will be or have already been updated to reflect this change.

Additionally, the following enhancements were made in the JI Reentry Initiative Screening Portal:

  • After activating, pausing, resetting, restarting or terminating a member in the JI Reentry Initiative Screening Portal, the transaction will be reflected after one business day. Transactions performed after 5 p.m. or on weekends and holidays require two business days for processing. If a transaction is in progress during this time period, a warning banner will appear that states: “Member updates are in progress. Results will be available the next business day.”
  • To enter a new incarceration period for a member, the Incarceration Date entered must be after the previous JI End Date. A warning message will appear that states: “Incarceration date must be after the JI End Date from the previous incarceration.”

The JI Reentry Initiative Screening Portal User Guide at https://mcweb.apps.prd.cammis.medi-cal.ca.gov/assets/BE4C22E1-8564-406B-B279-71AF30289D4C/ji_reentry-initiative-screening_portal_user_guide.pdf?access_token=6UyVkRRfByXTZEWIh8j8QaYylPyP5ULO has been updated with this information, as well as a new Tips and Troubleshooting section.
