News – EpiPen Recall & HPSJ Members
This message is for members of Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) who have filled a prescription med for EpiPen (or the EpiPen Jr) within the last six months.
In some cases, these meds may have a problem which could make them hard to use in a crisis.
For this reason, there has been a recall on some EpiPens, but not all EpiPens.
What HPSJ member should do –
- To check if your EpiPen med has been recalled, please call Stericycle at this toll-free number, 1-877-650-3494.
- Stericycle is open Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. – 7 p.m. They also are open Saturday and Sunday, 5 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Pacific Time)
- If you are not able to reach Stericycle, talk to your pharmacist to see if you need a new EpiPen.
If you need a replacement – it is important that you still carry your current EpiPen until you get a new one.
- If it is necessary to replace your EpiPen, there will be no cost to you.
Your health is very important to us. It is vital that you replace your med if needed.
If HPSJ members have any more questions please call our HPSJ Customer Service team:
